Managing your licenses

The My licenses page (heading "My licenses", subtitle "Add license keys and purchase codes, and manage the products linked to your account.") is where you attach your purchases to your account and manage them afterwards. Linking a license unlocks downloads, updates and the matching product workspace.

Add a license

You may not need to

Purchases made with the same email address as your Hub account are linked automatically once that email is verified, and signing in with Envato imports your ThemeForest purchases. Add a license by hand when you bought with a different email, or when something is missing from the list below.

Open /account/licenses. The page explains: "Add a Freemius license key or an Envato (ThemeForest) purchase code to link a product to your account. You can paste the whole confirmation email — we'll find the key."

  • A license key is what you receive by email when you buy from Themeasy. Freemius is our payment provider, which is why the Hub calls it a Freemius license key.
  • A purchase code is what ThemeForest (Envato) gives you for a theme bought there.
  1. Find the field labelled License key, purchase code, or pasted email.
  2. Paste your license key, your Envato (ThemeForest) purchase code, or the whole confirmation email — the Hub finds the key for you.
  3. Click Add a license.

When it works, you'll see "License verified and linked to your account." If the Hub can't match it, you'll get "We could not verify that license key or purchase code. Please double-check and try again." — re-check the value and try again. A key that is already linked to another account can't be added to yours; open a ticket if you need it moved.

One key links the whole plan

The key of a Themeasy plugin plan or of the Themeasy Bundle also links its subscription and every product it covers. After pasting it, your plan shows on billing and on the Themeasy template library (see signing in), even if you bought with a different email.

The licenses table

Linked items appear under Linked products in a table with these columns:

Column What it shows
Product The product the license unlocks. Click it to open its workspace.
Plan / source For a license: a type badge (Theme or Plugin) and where it comes from — Freemius for a key issued by Freemius, which sells our direct purchases, Envato for a ThemeForest purchase code. For a subscription: the plan name and a Subscription badge.
License key The masked key (or purchase code), with a Reveal button.
Status A status badge — see below.
Expiry The expiry date, "Perpetual license", or for a subscription "Renews date" / "No upcoming renewal" — plus an at-risk badge when something is due.
Actions Per-row controls (see below).

If nothing is linked yet, the table is replaced by "You have not linked any licenses or subscriptions yet."

Subscriptions and bundles

Subscriptions appear here too — a Themeasy plugin plan (Widgets, Pro or Agency) or the Themeasy Bundle. The row shows the plan, the renewal date and the key the subscription issued, masked with the same Reveal button, plus a Manage subscription link to your billing.

The Themeasy Bundle is one row with one key: under its name it reads "Includes the Themeasy plugin and every WordPress theme", and that key activates all of them. A theme the bundle unlocks keeps a row of its own, marked "Included in Themeasy Bundle".

Status

Badge Meaning
Active The license or subscription is valid.
Trialing A subscription in its free trial.
Past due A subscription whose last payment failed — see billing.
Expired The license has ended. (An ended subscription shows Expired.)
Cancelled A cancelled subscription; access may run until the period ends.
Refunded The purchase was refunded.
Revoked The license was revoked.

Revealing your key

Each key is masked until you ask for it. Click Reveal to un-mask the key in place; a Copy button then appears so you can copy it to your clipboard.

Keep your key private

Revealing shows your full license key or purchase code. Treat it like a password — don't share it, post it in screenshots, or paste it where others can see it. It's masked by default for exactly this reason.

Where to use your key

The Hub stores your key; you activate it inside WordPress:

Every site where a key is active shows up under Active sites on that product's page.

Per-row actions

The Actions column gives you what you need to manage each row:

  • Refresh status — re-checks the license with Freemius or Envato. Use it if your expiry or site count looks out of date, for example after a renewal that hasn't shown up yet; you'll see "License re-verified." on success.
  • Manage on Freemius — shown for a license bought directly from Themeasy. It opens that license in your Freemius customer account, where its payment details live.
  • Manage subscription — on a subscription row; opens billing.
  • Unlink — shown only for a license that is no longer active (expired, refunded or revoked). It detaches the license from your Hub account after a confirmation prompt ("Unlink this license from your account?"). This does not invalidate the license at its source — you can paste the key again later to re-link it. An active license has no Unlink button, so a working product can't be detached by accident.
  • Release / Deactivate a site — sites live on each product's page: open the product from your products and use the button next to the site under Active sites.

Expiry at a glance

The Hub warns you before something lapses, starting seven days ahead:

  • an at-risk badge in the Expiry column and on the product's card — "License expires in 7 days", "License expired", "Support expires in 7 days", "Support ended", or "Access ends date" for a cancelled subscription that is still running;
  • a counter that can appear next to Licenses in the account sidebar;
  • a dismissible banner at the top of your account pages naming the most urgent product;
  • an email and an in-app notification, both controlled by License expiry in your notification preferences.

A subscription that renews automatically is never flagged — only a cancelled one. And a theme bought on its own doesn't expire: "Support expires…" refers to its six-month updates period, explained in your products.

Renewals and invoices

Need to renew, change a plan or find a receipt? That lives on the billing page. Once a license is linked here, your purchases unlock on downloads and in your products.
